HP Non-Stop System Administrator

Job Introduction

This position is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the HP Non-Stop systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.  The individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.

Role Responsibility

Install new operating system releases, maintenance enhancements, new features and maintenance of software products such as Non-Stop SQL, HP Non-Stop OS; Capacity Planning and Performance management of the Guardian/OSS operating systems; System contingency planning and testing; Physical DBA; Extraction and Replication of data; Data and Disk Management.

Perform hardware error analysis, Safeguard and Xypro security system administration.

Reviews, analyzes, and modifies system scripts including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale mainframe type computer systems. Maintains on-line and batch application program scripts and schedules. Develops, maintains and implements disaster recovery plans. Works with project members to develop specifications, diagrams and flowcharts.

Excellent communication with vendors to provide the latest upgrades and possible future solutions.

The Ideal Candidate

Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 3+ years of experience with mid-range to large mainframe and/or experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong knowledge of the HP Non-Stop server operating system and related hardware, Guardian, OSS, Safeguard, Xypro, Non-Stop SQL/MP, Non-Stop SQL/MX, iTp Webserver, NSJSP, GoldenGate Data Replication,TCP/IP protocols is required.

Strong level of personal organization with excellent oral/written communication skills. Must be detail oriented, with the ability to handle multiple assignments promptly and effectively.

Demonstrated ability to work calmly in a fast-paced team environment while effectively managing multiple tasks. Superior telephone etiquette and customer service skills are required, with the ability to react quickly and decisively to resolve customer issues.

Must have strong customer service and communication skills.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, NetBatch scheduling and calendaring tool, and architecture knowledge is necessary.

Must be able to be part of an on-call support rotation.
