Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Introduction

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing vendor invoices, assigning costs to the proper job, cost center or general ledger account. 

Role Responsibility

Process and vendor payments timely, accurately and work with other departments to obtain approvals.

Track and code vendor payments to proper general ledger account.

Provide support to accounting department management and participate in special projects as needed.

Cross-train in other functional areas of the accounting department.

Prioritize, plan and schedule day-to-day routines and assigned projects to facilitate the overall needs of the SVS accounting group.

Manage the coordination and distribution of information, project activities, reports or other requirements with the accounting group.

Complete timely, verbal and written communication to the appropriate internal and external customers and associates.

The Ideal Candidate

Associate's Degree is preferred, with formal accounting training and/or experience required.  Minimum of 2 years related accounts payable/billing experience and/or training.

Must have intermediate level of knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Access. 

Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to research account variances and out-of-balance situations.

Strong level of personal organization with excellent oral/written communication skills.  Must be detail oriented, with the ability to handle multiple assignments promptly and effectively.
